Grade 7 math worksheets with answers :

Here we are going to see solutions of 10 problems that you find in the page "7th grade math worksheets".

Grade 7 math worksheets - Solution

Question 1 :

In a class test containing 15 questions, 4 marks are given for each correct answer and (-2) marks are given for every incorrect answer. James attempts all the questions but only 9 of the his answers are correct. what is his total score?

(A)    26           (B)  24          (C)  15

Solution :

Total number of questions  =  15

Number of questions answered correctly by James  =  9

Number of questions answered incorrectly by him

=  15 - 9  =  6

For each correct answer he will get +4 marks and for each questions he will get -2 marks.

Total score of James  = 9⋅ 4 + 6 ⋅ (-2)

  =  36 - 12

 =  24

Hence total score of James is 24.

Question 2 :

A batsman scored the following number of runs in six innings:

36, 35, 50, 46, 60, 55 calculate the runs scored by him in an inning.

(A)  47            (B)  50              (C)  30

Solution :

To find the runs scored in one innings, we have to find the average.

  =  (36 + 35 + 50 + 46 + 60 + 55)/6

  =  282/6

  =  47

Hence he scored 47 runs in one innings.

Question 3 :

A shop keeper sells mangoes in two types of boxes,one small and one big. A big box contains as many as 8 small boxes plus 4 loose mangoes. Set an equation which gives the number of mangoes in each small box. The number of mangoes in a big box is given to be 100.

(A)  32m = 100       (B)  8m + 4 = 100     (C)  4m + 100 = 4

Solution :

Number of mangoes in small boxes  =  m

Number of magoes in big box  =  8m + 4

Total number of mangoes in big box  =  100

Hence the required equation is 8m + 4  =  100.

Question 4 :

Solve -2(x + 3) = 8

(A)   x = -5                (B) x  = -7                (C)  x = -8

Solution :

-2(x + 3) = 8

To get rid of -2, we may divide by -2 on both sides.

So , we get

x + 3  =  -4

Subtract 3 on both sides

x + 3 - 3  = -4 - 3

x  =  -7

Question 5 :

Kevin's father's age is 5 years more than three times Kevin's age.Find Kevin's age, if his father is 44 years old.

(A)  15 years         (B)  14 years       (C)  13 years

Solution :

Let "x be Kevin's age

Kevin's father's age  =  3x + 5

if his father's age  =  44

3x + 5  =  44

Subtract 5 on both sides

3x  =  44 - 5

3x  =  39

Divide by 3 on both sides, we get

x  =  13

Hence Kevin's age is 13 years.

Question 6 :

If two lines intersect at a point, and if a pair of vertically opposite angles are acute angles, then the other pair of vertical opposite angles are known as _____________

(A)  Acute angle    (B)  Obtuse angle   (C)  Right angle

Solution :

The other pair must be obtuse angle, because adjacent angles are supplementary.

Question 7 :

Find the value of x in the following figure if the lines l and m are parallel

(A)   110°        (B)  70°             (C)  50°

∠POT + TOL  =  180

110 + ∠TOL  =  180

∠TOL  =  70

∠TOL  = ∠OSM (corresponding angles)

Hence ∠OSM is 70 °

Question 8 :

Find the angle in the below picture.

(A)   110°       (B)   60°      (C)  50 °

Solution :

An exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the opposite interior angles

110   =  50  + x

Subtract 50 on both sides

110 - 50  =  x

x  =  60

Hence the missing angle is 60°.

Question 9 :

We have two vats each containing 2 mats and 2 cats sat on each of the mats. Each cat wrote 2 funny old hats. On each hat lay thin rats.On each rat perched 2 black bats. How many things are in our vats?

(A)  266            (B)  136             (C)  124

Solution :

Since Number of vats = 2

Number of mats in 1 vat = 2

Number of mats in 2 vats = 2 × 2 = 4

Number of cats on 1 mat = 2

Number of cats on 4 mats = 4 × 2 = 8

Number of funny old hat with 1 cat = 2

Number of funny old hat with 8 cats = 8 × 2 = 16

Number of thin rat on 1 old hat = 2

Number of thin rat on 16 old hats = 16 × 2 = 32

Number of black bats on 1 rat = 2

Number of black bats on 32 rats = 32 × 2 = 64

By adding 64 + 32 + 16 + 8 + 4 + 2, we get

  =  126

Hence the answer is 126.

Question 10 :

Express the number 5985.3 in standard form

(A)  5.9853 x 103(B)  5.9853 x 10-3(C)  59.853 x 102

Solution :

To write the given decimal in standard form, we have to move the decimal point 3 digits toward left.

So we have to use positive power.

Hence the answer is 5.9853 x 103
